Heat is a significant and growing public health problem in Florida. The state has one of the highest rates of heat-related hospitalizations in the nation, and in 2016 Florida had 1112 hospitalizations. Heat is the leading weather-related killer in the U.S., and the problem will only get worse due to climate change.  Excessive heat can harm anyone, but some populations are at greater risk, including outdoor workers.
